It seems like the default sipper of choice is a pineapple and coconut pina colada or, in a bid to appeal to local palates, gin punch made with vividly pink pomelo juice. Even at an internationally-renowned location like Boracay, bar regulars can look at the menu and sigh over these old standards. Fortunately, the team of master mixologists at the Azure Beach Club at Crimson Boracay is keen to mix things up by offering their own original sippers to slake the thirst of the island’s denizens. While classics like margaritas, mai tais, and mojitos are offered on their slate, it is worth trying something new during one’s stay at Station Zero - and the bar team pulls out all the stops when it comes to offering guests something different. The Naked Rock, for example, is a brilliant blue concoction where two types of rum - classic white and coconutty Malibu - are given a shot of fruity fabulousness thanks to the addition of citrusy blue curacao, fresh pineapple and lime, and a splash of passionfruit syrup. Definitely better than a pina colada, and perfect for romantic sunsets on the beachfront. If you’re more of a whisky fan, Azure’s take on a traditional whisky sour is definitely for you. The Whisky Spice is a frisky drink that balances the fire of American Bourbon with a ginger shrub made in-house, a squeeze of fresh lemon, and a syrup infused with exotic spices. The old-school Jack and Ginger cocktail gets a tropical makeover with this sipper. Also, if you’re looking for a way to spice up a margarita, Azure presents a wicked little lady named Hot Rita. While this features the classic pairing of tequila and lime, it turns the heat up to eleven with the addition of fiery siling labuyo [bird’s-eye chili], a sprig of fresh cilantro, and honey which adds a pleasant warmth. Ole, ole, ole! These are just a few of the magnificent mixtures offered at the bar of the Azure Beach Club - and there’s a whole world of spirits there for you to enjoy.
